Angela Winter is a musical artist who creates ambient, experimental, and ritual music for thresholds, where synths, keys, and strings meet otherworldly vocals, hypnotic drones, and shimmering overtones. Her music has been described as “beautifully haunting” (Bandcamp Daily) and featured in First Floor by Shawn Reynaldo, zensounds by Stephan Kunze, and The Moderns by Kevin Press. She lives in Carrboro, North Carolina, and in addition to her own shows and festival performances, she has shared stages with Norman Westberg (Swans) and John Cale (The Velvet Underground).

Forbidden Questions In Space (PITP, 2025)

Forbidden Questions In Space is a haunting, koan-inspired journey of ambient, vocal, and drone improvisations. Born from Zen riddles and cosmic wonder, Angela Winter transforms existential dread into spacious, contemplative soundscapes. It asks: How do we meet the world as it is? The result is meditative and stirring, an invitation to let go of certainty and awaken to beauty in the unknown.

Forbidden Questions In Space was featured by Shawn Reynaldo in First Floor; selected by Stephan Kunze for his Best New Ambient (September 2025) round-up in zensounds; and played on The Moderns by Kevin Press.
